CATA JOB APPLICANT EVALUATION PROCESS

CATA has established processes and procedures to ensure that vacant positions are filled in a manner that ensures the best qualified applicant is hired. Therefore, the applicant review process will include one or more of the following: written, oral or performances tests, examinations, or interviews to determine an applicant’s potential for employment with the Authority. Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd Shift (approx. 10:00 pm - 6:00 am)

This position requires demonstrated experience in supervising heavy duty vehicle repair, maintenance and inspection.

We are located in State College, PA just on the outskirts of the Pennsylvania State University campus. We have recently completed a major expansion of our facilities to provide a state of the art working environment for our growing employee base.

As a Maintenance Supervisor at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who have committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

• Assists the Maintenance Manager and as necessary, acts on his or her behalf in their absence.
• Supervise, train, instruct and monitor the work of the mechanics and service crew engaged in maintaining, servicing, repairing and fueling buses and other vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure completed work by shop personnel meet quality, performance and safety expectations.
• Responds to inquiries and pre-trip notations concerning vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure that all completed work is appropriately captured and recorded in the fleet management software and that all records are accurate.
• Coordinates, prepares, submits and completes warranty claims.
• Communicates disciplinary actions and prepares proper paperwork related to discipline procedures.
• Oversees the road call program to minimize unnecessary road calls while providing timely and efficient support to the operations department.
• Conducts daily shift meeting with shop personnel to identify and resolve problems; provides guidance when needed.
• Coordinates shop personnel’s shifts and assignments.

Position requires possession of, or the ability to obtain, a class A CDL with passenger endorsement, a PA State Inspection License (S7) and 609 AC certification. CATA provides CDL training and assistance for inspection license and AC certification.

Bus Cleaner (Hours of work will be between 6:00pm – 9:00am)

Do you have an employment background that includes customer service, a strong work ethic and the ability to work with a diverse group of people? This position requires flexibility, the aptitude to follow direction and the capability to perform a variety of work-related tasks.

CATA is located in State College, PA just on the outskirts of the Pennsylvania State University campus. We are nearing completion of a major expansion of our facilities to provide a state of the art working environment for our growing employee base.

As a Bus Cleaner at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who are committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff and customers. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

• Cleans interior of CATA vehicles, includes sweeping and mopping bus floors, dusting seats;
• Cleans exterior of CATA vehicles, utilizing a mechanical bus washer when available;
• Cleaning glass windows, doors and mirrors, washing of all window casings and tracks;
• Cleans all chrome railing materials, straps and driver areas;
• Vacuuming and cleaning of all upholstery using the appropriate cleaning equipment;
• Cleaning of light fixtures and washing down all interior surfaces including walls, seat bases, vent casings;
• Empty all trash from the vehicle; replace trash bags;
• Restock vehicles with supplies, as needed; verifying that service vehicles are amply stocked with supplies and supplies are properly requisitioned and recorded;
• Turn in all lost and found articles to dispatch as outlined in CATA policy;
• Properly maintain and clean equipment and work areas at the end of each shift;
• Keeps storage and work areas clean at all times;
• Drives, maneuvers and parks vehicles with demonstrated skills;
• Reports all maintenance issues to Supervisors;
• Ability to project a positive image of a Bus Operator and of CATA services;

Bus Operator

Do you have an employment background that includes customer service, a strong work ethic and the ability to work with a diverse group of people? This position requires flexibility, the aptitude to follow direction and the capability to perform a variety of work-related tasks. Successful completion of CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement training and testing will be required - CATA provides training and testing for the right person.

As a Bus Operator at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who are committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff and customers. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

• Safe and timely operation of a transit coach in all types of weather conditions while in compliance with FTA policies/procedures and all Federal and State traffic laws/regulations
• Tactful and courteous interaction with riders, other motorists and the general public
• Maintain working knowledge of streets, current bus routes and stops, fare structures, and bus pass programs
• Comply with ADA requirements to properly operate the accessibility ramp and wheelchair lifts, safely secure passengers, and make required stop announcements as needed
• Performing pre-trip/post-trip inspections
• Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly as needed for pre-trip/post-trip, incidents/accidents, and maintenance repair forms • Work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts **40 hours a week is not initially guaranteed**
• Performs related tasks as required
